Displacement activity

I keep trying, but not quite succeeding, to get a hero shot! Oak leaves my current focus (or lack thereof!). Am also trying to shorten my dips as the cold feels OK while I'm in the water, but makes it hard to get back to work afterwards. Swims as failsafe displacement!

I swam on my way home after class today: from the sailing school to the Retiro badepark and back. A perfect swim :)

The wind is picking up over the fjord tonight as a gale batters Bjørnsund. I swam in the company of an eagle today - the perk of not obsessing about lion's manes!

Pigs in the garden of Eden

It seems the word "Eden" may be related to an Aramaic word meaning "fruitful, well-watered": a perfect description of my orchard bay!  Am chuckling over my mother-in-laws reaction to my dream of swimming across the fjord: "Ah well, there are many ways to kill a pig"!!!!

Mer regn (more rain)!

BBQ and landing lights last Thursday. The Viking has landed from Bjørnsund, where a storm raged all week. Hoping to borrow a rowboat and strike out for a longer swim this weekend.

Rain again in the Eplehagen

Last day of August and it seems the summer may be over - though not the swimming, which is settling into a daily routine.

Lots of rain today and a 30 minute swim from my local orchard. Learned to tell the time in Norwegian ("5 minutes to half of 3" is Norwegian for 25 past 2!), and finished the first series of Game of Thrones: Harald, you have some catching up to do :)

Landing lights

2016 has landed - or is it just taking off? Either way, I decided to try a new watering-hole just next to the airport. It looked very tempting yesterday, but felt terribly cold today as the temperature took a tumble. Fortunately, the wood-cutter was on standby to give me a hand out.
